Free Full Length Yoga Class - Move from Your Center
A well rounded class with a focus on the learning to move from ones center. Two of the first postures we often learn in Beginners Yoga are cat pose and downward facing dog pose (dog pose). These movements teach us the two basic directions that the pelvis moves. The center of each pose is in the hips; just below the navel. So, in every pose we are either moving towards cat tilt or dog tilt.
Moving from the center helps to shape and define the entire pose in a way that is safe and effective. For example, in backbends we work towards cat tilt (rounding the low back and tucking the tailbone down) to protect the low back. In sitting forward folds we work towards dog tilt (arching the low back) to emphasize the stretch in the back of the legs.
This Free Full Length Yoga Class is a great place to start if you're a beginner, or a good refresher of the basics for those who have been practicing for a while. There's plenty of time for the relaxation pose (most people's favorite) and a short meditation at the end. Enjoy!
